Reader's journal
While and after reading this book I didn't try to relate it to my life so I thought It was pointless for my personal life. Looking back at it now and having to actually put in thought I realize that it relates to me a lot. High school in general is really hard. Not only do we have to do so much to get ahead in our classes and activities in or out of school but we also have to deal with our emotions. This is the part of our lives where we are growing and changing into adults. Just like every other teenager I've gone and still am going through rough times. The main character Charlie makes so many mistakes exactly like me. The most important part of making mistakes is to learn from them and Charlie shows that as well.
I do recommend this mostly to teenagers because we go through these emotional outbursts and we make so many mistakes that sometimes we just don't know how to fix it or what to do and sometimes we need a reminder that we are NOT! Alone and that others can relate in some way and maybe even help or just be there to listen. Looking at the bigger picture I would say this can relate to anyone going through a rough patch in life, making mistakes, and being an emotional wreck. My advice to anyone who reads this is to do the opposite of what I did when reading. Actually try and relate it to your life so that you can realize what the writer was trying to tell you. I also suggest that you search more about the author's life so that you know this person didn't just make this story up. Stephen Chbosky took actual parts of his life and wrote it in this book.
